Why we chose it

“Aglianico is the ‘Barolo of the South’ — structured, tannic and built for food. Lapilli’s version is an accessible and genuinely characterful introduction.”

About this wine

Lapilli Aglianico Beneventano is a bold and expressive red from Campania, offering rich black cherry, plum and hints of wild herbs and spice. Firm tannins and a touch of earthiness give it structure and depth, balanced by a smooth finish. It's a natural partner for grilled meats, ragu or hearty vegetarian dishes.

Crafted from the noble Aglianico grape, grown in the volcanic soils of Benevento, this wine showcases southern Italy's ability to deliver power, complexity and charm in equal measure.

About the producer

Lapilli is a Campania label producing wines from the volcanic soils around Mount Vesuvius, including the Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio DOC. 'Lapilli' — the Italian word for volcanic rock fragments — reflects the unique terroir of these ancient volcanic vineyards. The Piedirosso, Falanghina, and Coda di Volpe grapes grown here produce wines of vivid mineral character, saline freshness, and the distinctive smoky quality of volcanic terroir.
