Why we chose it“Grenache like this is why I keep a soft spot for McLaren Vale. Bright and fragrant, lovely with a slight chill on it, and very good alongside roast lamb.”

About this wine
Silent Noise MF Grenache is a bright, joyful red from McLaren Vale, drawn from an old vineyard planted back in 1955. The colour is a glowing raspberry red, and the nose leads with ripe raspberry and sweet berry fruit lifted by watermelon and a hint of almond biscotti. For a wine of 14% ABV it stays light on its feet, with soft spice, gentle tannins and a fresh, mouth-watering finish. This is Grenache in its most charming form, fragrant and fruit-driven rather than heavy.
Silent Noise is the small-batch label of Charlie O'Brien, who grew up among the vines at Kangarilla Road in McLaren Vale and has since made wine in the Clare Valley, the Languedoc and Bordeaux. That mix of home ground and travel shows in wines made with a light touch and plenty of personality. Serve this one with a slight chill alongside roast lamb, a rare steak or a wedge of mature cheddar, though it is equally happy on its own on a warm evening.
