About this wine

SRC Etna Rosso Siciliani 2022 is a beautifully expressive Sicilian red, grown on the dramatic volcanic slopes of Mount Etna. Made predominantly from Nerello Mascalese, it brings together bright cherry fruit, wild herbs and a gentle smoky edge, with a freshness and mineral lift that defines the finest Etna wines. Minimal intervention and biodynamic principles produce a wine that is pure, characterful and naturally lower in sulphites. Elegant yet characterful, this is a wonderfully food-friendly red for roast meats, tomato-based dishes and Mediterranean cooking.

SRC takes its name from the Parasili family, husband and wife Rori and Cinzia, alongside their daughter Sandra. They began with half a hectare, now expanded to 11 hectares on Etna's northern slopes within the prestigious Calderara Sottana area, at elevations between 600 and 1,000 metres. Their vineyards include parcels of very old vines, aged 50 to 100 years, rooted in both historic and more recent lava flows. These iron-rich volcanic soils impart a distinctive mineral energy, giving the wines their clarity and precision, and a modern cellar built in 2016 houses concrete eggs and large botti.

About the producer

SRC is a producer on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, one of the world's most dramatic and distinctive wine terroirs. Etna Rosso, made primarily from the indigenous Nerello Mascalese grape, is renowned for its Burgundy-like elegance — perfumed, structured and mineral — in striking contrast to Sicily's image as a producer of sun-baked, extracted reds. The volcanic soils of Etna and the altitude of its vineyards produce wines of extraordinary freshness and complexity.
