About this wine
Tenuta del Conte Calabria Rosso is crafted from estate-grown Gaglioppo and Magliocco, two indigenous grape varieties that have been cultivated in Calabria for centuries. The grapes are hand-harvested before being gently pressed and de-stemmed, then fermented and matured in stainless steel for one year to preserve their vibrant fruit character. Following bottling, the wine spends a further eight months refining in bottle, adding balance and complexity before release. Certified organic.
Light-bodied, fresh and remarkably versatile, this Calabria Rosso opens with enticing aromas of crushed red berries, redcurrant and raspberry, lifted by a delicate note of orange zest. The palate is bright and lively, with fine, silky tannins balanced by refreshing acidity, leading to a long, elegant finish. Its bright acidity and fresh red fruit make it an ideal companion for pizza, tomato-based pasta dishes and simple Mediterranean cooking, as well as grilled vegetables, cured meats and young cheeses. Serve slightly below room temperature.
