Why we chose it

“Blended from heritage varieties at Myrtle Farm, and you taste the orchard rather than a recipe. Mellow tannin with a touch of sweetness — drink it cool with bread and cheese.”

About this wine

Thatchers Cider Barn Heritage is a celebration of family craft and the timeless cider styles that have shaped Somerset's orchards for generations. Created in small batches at Myrtle Farm, this limited edition blends carefully selected heritage apple varieties to bring forward the richness and complexity that define classic West Country cider.

Expect a cider full of character, with mellow tannins, layers of ripe apple flavour and a gentle earthiness that reflects the orchard's diversity. A touch of sweetness balances the natural bittersweet profile, while a smooth, rounded finish makes it a rewarding choice for those who appreciate depth and authenticity in their cider.

About the producer

Thatchers has made cider at Myrtle Farm in Sandford, North Somerset, since William Thatcher pressed his first apples there in 1904. Four generations have followed, with Martin Thatcher running the business since 1992 and the fifth generation now coming through. The orchards around the farm still supply the fruit, from Katy to the traditional bittersweet Redstreak.
