Why we chose it“Bittersweet apples give this real tannin grip, which is why I would pour it into a wine glass rather than a pint pot. Cold, with a ploughman's or mature Cheddar.”

About this wine
Thatchers Vintage is a premium Somerset cider made by one of Britain's most respected cider-making families. The Thatcher family has been growing apples and pressing cider in the village of Sandford, Somerset since 1904, and their Vintage expression represents the pinnacle of their craft — a full-flavoured, character-driven cider made from a careful selection of traditional bittersweet apple varieties grown in their own orchards.
Deep golden amber with a rich, complex nose of ripe baked apple, toffee and warm dried fruit. The palate is full-bodied and well-structured, with genuine tannin grip from the bittersweet apple varieties, balanced sweetness and a long, satisfying finish. Exceptional served chilled in a wine glass alongside a ploughman's lunch, pork dishes or mature Somerset Cheddar.
