About this wine
Zevenwacht is a historic South African wine estate established in 1707, perched in the Bottelary Hills of Stellenbosch with sweeping views across Table Bay. Farming 120 hectares of diverse varieties, the estate is known for pioneering work in the region, and this barrel-fermented Chenin Blanc is one of their most distinctive expressions, showcasing what happens when South Africa's most widely planted white grape is given careful oak treatment to add texture and complexity.
Fermented and aged in French oak, the wine develops a rich, creamy depth alongside the variety's natural fruit: ripe apple, quince and a hint of beeswax, with lively freshness and a long, satisfying finish. Full-flavoured and versatile, it pairs beautifully with roast chicken, creamy pasta, grilled fish or a well-aged hard cheese.
